How good was it to have Track & Field Athletics back after nearly 18 months of COVID-19 induced competition modifications, cancelations and procrastinations? 18 athletes represented SKAAC across the two venues: Doncaster and Duncan McKinnon, with a big welcome to Tom Templeton, on debut in the Under 16 Age group completing a 200m (26.34) and an 800m (2:26.0h) , a big welcome to Tom & his family.
Conditions weren’t great with tracks windy, wet and cold, but that didn’t deter many. Some great performances from Cleo Richardson with 4:39.3h in the 1500m taking out her own club records in the Under 16, 17, 18, 19 & 20 age groups and rocketing to 2nd All-time for SKAAC. A step behind Cleo was Bridie Hill with near a 3 sec PB in 1500m (4:44.18 to 4:41.3h).
A great battle is looming between Jocelyn Kerr and Lucie Thompson in the Under 13 girls High Jump with both breaking the old record by 15cm to take the equal claim at 1.30m.
Special mention to Jack Howard who was ranked the second highest point scorer for AVSL in the state for Round 1 AVSL!!
