Hunter Track Classic – Wrap Up

February 2, 2016 by Peter McGarry Leave a Comment

It what can only be described as an amazing night of racing for 4 of SKAAC’s best athletes at the Hunter Track Classic on 30th January 2016 resulted in:

  • 1 Club Record;
  • 2 First Place results;
  • 1 second place result;
  • 1 effort the club’s second fastest ever and another the 8th fastest all time over 800m in the same race.

Deluca Lawson-Matthew won the 400m in 48.07, a season’s best and an improvement in the SKAAC 6th All-time fastest that was held already by Deluca.

Sam McEntee staged an intriguing duel with training squad member Ryan Gregson to be just pipped on the line in the 3000m running 7:48.35, slicing 3.35 seconds from the previous club record held by Peter O’Donoghue (7:51.70 in 1993).

The 800m held great interest for the club with Luke Mathews and Peter Bol facing the starter. In a fantastic race Luke was able to pull away and win in most impressive fashion, stopping the clock at 1:46.35, a mere 0.35sec from an Olympic qualifier. Peter Bol ran a strong race, his first over 800m this season, running 1:49.52 and in doing so becoming only SKAAC’s 8th member to dip under 1:50.00 for 800m.

Please see the link below to the AthNSW vision of each of the 3 races featuring SKAAC athletes.
